Dummy Ticket for a Schengen Visa from Pakistan: What to Submit

The Short Answer

Submit a genuine unticketed flight reservation, not a purchased ticket. Annex II of the EU Visa Code lists a reservation of a return or round ticket among the supporting documents, and checking is GDS-primary, so what matters is a live six-character PNR in Amadeus, Sabre or Travelport. Buy the real ticket after the visa is stamped.

Dummy Ticket for a Schengen Visa from Pakistan: What to Submit

A Schengen visa application from Pakistan needs proof of your intended flights, and a reservation covers that. You do not need a paid ticket at the application stage, because the EU Visa Code's own list of supporting documents names a "reservation of or return or round ticket". Buy the real ticket once the visa is in your passport.

What counts as a flight reservation for a Schengen visa?

A flight reservation is a live booking held in an airline reservation system under a six-character PNR, carrying your name as the passport shows it, plus your route and your dates, without being paid for or issued as a ticket. It is a record a consulate can look up, not a picture of one.

Article 14 of the Visa Code sets out what you have to present. It asks for documents indicating the purpose of the journey, documents relating to accommodation or proof of means to cover it, proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the stay and for the return, and information that lets the consulate assess your intention to leave before the visa expires.

Your flight reservation does work on the first and the last of those four. The non-exhaustive list in Annex II of the Visa Code is explicit: under the heading covering your intention to leave the territory of the member states, it lists a "reservation of or return or round ticket".

So the legal position is settled. A reservation is a named supporting document in the legislation itself, and nothing in Article 14 or Annex II requires the ticket to be paid for before you apply.

Which Schengen countries accept applications in Pakistan, and where do you submit?

Almost every Schengen state with a mission in Pakistan routes submission through an external provider, and the provider is not the same for all of them. Getting this right first saves you an appointment you cannot use.

The Netherlands takes applications at VFS Global centres in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore for residents of Pakistan and Afghanistan, and warns that any booking route other than the official VFS appointment system is a scam. Belgium and Luxembourg state that applications can be processed exclusively through VFS/Gerry's. Spain uses BLS International for its embassy in Islamabad and its consulate general in Karachi.

Switzerland lists Gerry's/VFS application centres in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, and also allows submission in person at its embassy in Islamabad by appointment. Several other states run their own appointment systems instead, so read your destination's mission page rather than a forum thread.

Which state you apply to is not a free choice either. You apply to the country of your main destination, and where there is no single main destination, to the country of first entry. Your reservation should be consistent with that on its face.

One more point on first entry: a transit through Dubai or Doha is outside the Schengen area, so it does not decide your country of first entry. The first Schengen airport on the itinerary does.

How do embassies actually check a flight reservation?

Verification is GDS-primary. The booking lives in Amadeus, Sabre or Travelport, and that is where a document checker at the application centre or an officer at the consulate looks it up by PNR, which returns your name, route, dates and booking status.

Most airlines show only ticketed bookings on their own websites, so a live unticketed reservation often will not appear in an airline's manage-booking page. Emirates and Etihad are the usual exceptions, which matters from Pakistan because so many Schengen routings connect through Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

That gap is where cheap itineraries fall apart. A verifiable dummy ticket stands up because the PNR resolves in the system that created it, and we walk through the mechanics in how embassies verify flight reservations through the GDS.

Practical consequence: judge a reservation by whether the PNR is live in a GDS, not by whether an airline site recognises it. Expecting the airline site to confirm it is the single most common misunderstanding we hear from applicants in Islamabad and Lahore.

Should you buy a real ticket before you apply?

No. Spanish consular guidance puts it plainly: submit round-trip flight bookings, and it is advisable not to buy the air ticket until the visa has been granted.

A paid ticket adds nothing to the assessment. Decisions turn on the strength of the file, and under Article 32 of the Visa Code a visa is refused where the applicant does not justify the purpose and conditions of the intended stay, cannot show sufficient means for the stay and the return, or where there are reasonable doubts about the authenticity of the documents submitted.

Pakistani files are read closely. The Visa Code has consulates assess the Article 14 conditions within local Schengen cooperation so that local circumstances and migratory risk are taken into account, which is a reason to be precise rather than a reason to overload the file.

Precision is cheaper than optimism. A reservation that matches your leave dates, your accommodation and your stated purpose does more for you than a non-refundable ticket you bought to look committed.

When should you apply, and what dates belong on the reservation?

Apply early, but not so early that your reservation lapses. BLS states that applicants may apply up to 180 days before the date of travel and that applications must be submitted at least 15 days before the proposed travel date, so there is a wide window and no reason to leave it to the last fortnight.

Set the reservation dates to the trip you actually intend to take, then keep every other document inside that window. The outbound date should sit comfortably after your expected decision, and the return should fall inside the stay you asked for on the form.

Do not stretch the itinerary to fill the visa you hope to get. A 90 day routing attached to a seven day holiday plan is a contradiction an officer will notice before anything else in the file.

Which validity should a Pakistani applicant choose: 2, 7 or 14 days?

Choose 14 days unless your appointment is already confirmed within the next day or two. Our pricing is USD 13 for 2 days, USD 19 for 7 days and USD 21 for 14 days, so the longest validity costs USD 8 more than the shortest and removes most of the timing risk.

That risk is real in Pakistan. BLS notes that an application submitted at a satellite centre can spend 48 to 72 hours in transit before it reaches Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi, and the file then waits in a queue before anyone opens it.

A reservation that has lapsed by the time an officer checks the PNR reads as carelessness in a file you want to look careful. The 14 day dummy ticket is what we recommend by default for Schengen applications from Pakistan.

If a decision runs longer than any reservation can cover, order a fresh one rather than submitting an expired PNR. At these prices a replacement costs less than the taxi to the application centre.

What mistakes cost Pakistani applicants the most?

Dates that contradict the rest of the file

Your reservation, your cover letter, your employer's leave approval and your accommodation dates should all describe one trip. If the reservation says 12 to 22 March while the rest of the file implies a fortnight from the 15th, you have handed over a reason to doubt the plan.

A routing that argues against the consulate you chose

A reservation that enters the Schengen area at Frankfurt while you apply to Spain invites a question about your main destination. Either fix the routing or make the itinerary inside the file plainly consistent with the country you applied to.

Names that do not match the passport

The PNR must carry your surname and given names exactly as the machine-readable zone of your passport shows them, in that order. Pakistani passports often record a single given name alongside a father's or husband's name, and a booking that merges or reorders them creates a mismatch at the counter and at the border.

Free generators and edited PDFs

A free itinerary generator usually hands you a PDF with no live PNR behind it, or a PNR that was cancelled minutes after it was created. We set out the failure modes in why free dummy tickets are dangerous for visa applications, and the refusal angle in whether a dummy ticket can cause a visa rejection.

Treating the reservation as the whole travel plan

The flight reservation answers one question out of several. Purpose of travel, accommodation, funds, employment and travel medical insurance are separate items, and our Schengen travel plan document checklist covers how they fit together.

What else sits alongside the reservation in the file?

The reservation is one line in a file built from several independent documents, and a weak item elsewhere is what usually sinks an application. Article 14 and Annex II between them point at the following:

  • Purpose of travel: a cover letter, an invitation, a conference registration or a booking confirmation for an organised trip.
  • Accommodation: documents relating to where you will stay, or proof of means to cover it.
  • Means of subsistence: bank statements, salary slips and anything showing funds for the stay and the return.
  • Ties to Pakistan: employment, business registration, property or family ties that speak to your intention to leave.
  • Travel medical insurance: a separate refusal ground under Article 32 where it applies.

Build those first and the flight reservation becomes a formality rather than a weak point. Officers read the documents against each other, so internal consistency is worth more than volume.

Is submitting an unticketed reservation honest?

Yes, provided the booking is genuine and you do not present it as a purchased ticket. An unticketed reservation is a standard output of the airline reservation systems, and the Visa Code names a reservation as an acceptable supporting document.

What is not honest is a fabricated document. An edited PDF, an invented booking reference or a PNR that resolves to nothing is misrepresentation, and the authenticity ground in Article 32 exists for exactly that.

Keep the distinction clear in your own head and the file stays defensible. You are showing the consulate a real intended itinerary you have not yet paid for, which is what the legislation asks for.

How do you order a Schengen flight reservation from Pakistan?

Send us your passport name, your route and your travel dates, and we create the booking in Amadeus, Sabre or Travelport and email it to you in minutes with a real six-character PNR. Start on our dummy ticket for Schengen visa page and pick 2, 7 or 14 days of validity.

Prices are USD 13, USD 19 and USD 21, with nothing else to pay and no subscription. If you also need travel medical insurance for the Article 32 requirement, email us and we will arrange it.

Then apply with the reservation, keep the PDF and PNR to hand at your appointment, and buy the real ticket once the visa is stamped. That order of operations keeps a scrutinised file clean and your money where it belongs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Annex II of the EU Visa Code lists a reservation of a return or round ticket among the supporting documents for showing you intend to leave, so a genuine unticketed reservation with a live six-character PNR is acceptable. What is not acceptable is a fabricated PDF with no booking behind it.
Often not. Verification is GDS-primary, and most airlines display only ticketed bookings on their own sites, so a live unticketed reservation may not show there. Emirates and Etihad are the usual exceptions. The PNR resolving in Amadeus, Sabre or Travelport is what matters.
It depends on the country. The Netherlands uses VFS Global centres in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, Belgium and Luxembourg route applications exclusively through VFS/Gerry's, and Spain uses BLS International. Check your destination's own mission page, because some states run their own appointment systems.
Fourteen days for most Pakistani applicants. Files submitted at satellite centres can spend 48 to 72 hours in transit before reaching Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi, then queue before anyone opens them. Our 14 day reservation is USD 21, against USD 19 for 7 days and USD 13 for 2 days.
No. Spanish consular guidance advises applicants to submit round-trip bookings and not to buy the air ticket until the visa has been granted. A paid ticket adds nothing to the assessment and costs you money if the decision is negative or arrives after your intended departure.
A genuine reservation will not. Article 32 of the Visa Code allows refusal where there are reasonable doubts about the authenticity of documents, so a forged or dead booking reference is a risk. Mismatched names and dates that contradict the rest of your file are the other common triggers.
